Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s “Project SHIELD” Beach Cleanup Reaches New Milestone
Project SHIELD is a multi-faceted program by Loggerhead Marinelife Center, providing conservation solutions to man-made threats facing sea turtles. Over recent years they have grown their beach cleanup efforts community engagement.
Every month, volunteers get involved to support beach clean-up efforts. Over the past year, Marinelife Center reports that volunteers have removed more than 2,000 pounds of debris from local beaches near Juno Beach, FL. Each month the center releases detailed sort reports highlighting the debris collected during our weekly cleanup efforts and number of volunteers in action.
“This incredible milestone could not be possible without the support of Surfing’s Evolution and Preservation Foundation,” says Valerie Tovar, Conservation Manager with Loggerhead Marinelife Center. “We are so grateful for your partnership over the years and look forward to continuing to engage the community to help in preserving our coastal communities.”
