Coastal Connections Leads Local Cleanup

With support from Surfing’s Evolution & Preservation Foundation, Coastal Connections is leading the charge in removing harmful fishing line from the environment to protect sea turtles and other wildlife. At a recent community event in Vero Beach, volunteers helped sort discarded fishing line collected from 44 recycling tubes across Indian River County. The cleaned line will be repurposed through a partnership with Berkley Fishing, turning waste into usable materials.

This hands-on effort is part of Coastal Connections’ broader conservation mission, which also includes educational programs for local youth and ongoing wildlife rescue initiatives. Every piece of line sorted brings the community one step closer to a cleaner, safer coastline.
