Drown Zero Stations Help Achieve Zero Rip Current Drownings in Brevard
Feedback from our partners like what we recently received from Drown Zero makes us so happy! Drown Zero is making a huge impact on safety in Brevard County.
Historical drowning statistics dating back to 1993 show an average of five rip current drownings per year in Brevard County. With the implementation of Drown Zero (DZ) stations now installed at nearly every beach access from Cape Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet, including Patrick Space Force Base, combined with the dedicated service of Ocean Rescue and Fire Rescue water response teams, Brevard County has achieved something unprecedented.
For the first time in recorded history, Brevard County has reported zero rip current drownings.
This milestone reflects the power of proactive safety measures, community collaboration, and a commitment to protecting residents and visitors alike. We are proud to support this organization that plays a direct role in saving lives.
Thank you to everyone that purchases the SURFN license plate that helps fund our mission to support programs such as Drown Zero that makes our beaches safer for everyone.
